West (2019)

West loosely plays off the Western genre, offering a gendered perspective on the rugged individualism, archetypes, and violence of the “American West.” The work, featuring soloist Katie Graves, was filmed at the Call of the Canyon Trailhead in Oak Creek Canyon near Sedona, AZ and is equal parts conscious and subconscious, present and past, pleasure and agony.

Direction: Kate Corby
Camera/Editing: Elizabeth Wadium

Sound: Tim Russell
Filming location: West Fork Trail, Sedona, AZ
Premiere: Opine Dance Film Festival, Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr, PA. 3/20/20 - 3/21/20

Relentless currents of human tension ... edgy mystery ... visually lush and true to Corby's intent.
